From My Mother's Tropical Garden

The online dictionary Merriam-Webster has a wonderful definition of the flame nettle, from description credited to Diane Heilenman of the Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky.:

  • noun. : a coleus (especially Plectranthus scutellarioides synonym Coleus blumei) grown as an ornamental for its bright-colored foliage. Coleus, or flame nettle, comes in a rambunctious collection of colorations in its shaggy, heart-shaped leaves.

Isn't that wonderful? Rambunctious and shaggy in the same description!

The flame nettle grows profusely in Malaysia, where my mother lives, and where I collected the leaf I used to create this pendant... Although I think this particular leaf looks like a pair of tiny angel wings, don't you think?

Moulded using Art Clay Silver which, when fired, magically transforms into pure silver, the pendant is presented on an 18" sterling silver curb chain.

About Seadragon Silver

I was born in the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese zodiac, and I love creating simple, sleek jewellery. I use a lot of seaglass, most of which we find along the beautiful beaches of the North Norfolk coast here in England, as well as beautiful semi-precious gemstones, surfite, Fordite and dichroic glass.

I'm proud of every piece I make, and I hope you enjoy wearing my jewellery as much as I love making it.
